How to use Seedance 2.0

ByteDance's Seedance: reference pictures, first and last frames, and prompts written like a cinematographer.

Seedance, from ByteDance, is at its best with cinematic framing and lighting, consistent characters and multi-shot storytelling. GenKite has Seedance 2.0, the quicker and cheaper Seedance 2.0 Fast, and Seedance 2.5 with finer detail.

Which Seedance should I use?

  • Seedance 2.0 Fast for drafts and social formats at 480p or 720p.
  • Seedance 2.0 for finished cinematic shots, with up to four reference pictures.
  • Seedance 2.5 for the finest detail and steadier characters.

A good habit: find the prompt on Fast, then render the keeper on 2.0 or 2.5.

Step by step

  1. Open the studio and choose Seedance.
  2. Write the prompt, or upload a picture for image to video.
  3. To keep a person or product the same, add reference pictures, or save it once as a character (see keeping a character the same in every shot).
  4. Optionally add a first and last frame.
  5. Choose the length (4 to 15 seconds), resolution and shape, including 21:9, and generate.

Prompts that suit Seedance

Seedance follows cinematography language closely, so write like a director of photography: the framing, the lens, the light and the camera move.

Low-angle wide shot of a lone rider crossing a salt flat at dusk, long lens compression, warm backlight, dust trailing behind, slow tracking shot.

Close-up of a chef's hands plating a dessert, shallow depth of field, soft overhead light, slow push in.

Is Seedance 2.0 free?

New GenKite accounts get free credits with no card needed, enough to try Seedance. Every clip shows its price before you generate.
